SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
Writers
From time to time, HMP will post Open Calls for d20 material on the
front page, as well as on various specialized forums (such as RPG.net's
Freelancing and Freelancers forum, or ENWorld's
Open Calls & Job Vacancies forum). We're looking for designers with a full understanding of the d20 game system and a strong grasp of American English.
Given that we work within the Open Gaming License, we prefer to release product that contains as much Open Content as possible (often 100% of our text is open content), so we purchase all rights to a product.
You can send us a query by email at submissions@highmoonmedia.com
(write [QUERY] on your subject line) before investing your time in a project. This applies even if the product is already finished; we will not want to review it if it resembles something we have already in the works. The ideal query is approximately 1 single-spaced page. It sums up your product concept, and what would attract gamers to it. It contains vital information such as estimated length, components, and how much time would be required for you to produce a completed draft. Your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address should be included. You should limit a query to a single product. If you have multiple product concepts, send multiple queries.
Once we've approved your query, we'll send you a contract which spells out our terms.
After the contract is signed, we can accept your manuscript.
We offer writers a royalty on the net sales of the
product for the life of the product. Any other arrangement will be on a
case-by-case basis only.
Complete submissions should be presented in a clean, professional manner.
While we don't expect all submissions to be perfect, the less editorial
work that needs to be done, the better—a manuscript full of spelling and grammar
errors will likely be rejected, even if we approved the query. Manuscripts that we've solicited can be sent by e-mail
at submissions@highmoonmedia.com
as a Microsoft Word Document (.doc) file or as a Rich Text Format (.rtf) file.
HMP does not accept unsolicited
manuscripts of any kind. Any unsolicited manuscripts received
will be returned to the sender unread and/or unopened in the case of
attachments. This is done in order to protect both our and your
intellectual property. If you want us to view your material, send a
query first.
Please understand that HMP has a number
of projects being developed at any given time in a variety of subjects, and
the release of a product with a topic similar to your submission is
merely a coincidence. If we should use anything from a submission, even
if its only an idea or concept that was later developed in-house, we
will give proper credit to the author of said submission.
HMP vehemently opposes plagiarism, and is
always vigilant of upholding an author's rights. That is our promise.
Illustrators
From time to time, HMP will post Open Calls for artwork on the front
page, as well as on various specialized forums (such as RPG.net's
Freelancing and Freelancers forum, or ENWorld's
Open Calls & Job Vacancies forum). Each Open Call will have its
own details on what we're looking for, though all will ask that
submitted material be emailed to submissions@highmoonmedia.com
with the tag [ART] on the subject line.
Artists may email a link to their online
portfolios to the same email address for future reference. If you have
artwork on your portfolio that matches with one of our product lines, be
sure to make special mention about it and include a specific link to
that area and/or examples.
Thank you for your interest in Highmoon
Media Productions.
