It all began with a casual invitation from Larissa to Danny &Yvette to go to Europe with her. Those harmless words were the beginning of what would eventually become the greatest trip four 20-somethings would take so far in their lives.

On May 28, 2001 us four travelers arrived at Miami International Airport with our lives stuffed into bulging backpacks. For the next 35 days, we would live out of those packs as we embarked on a trip that would take us from the remote Scottish highlands to an undead city buried by a volcano. Eager, excited, and afraid, high on caffeine and sugar, with only a handful of hours of sleep in the last 48 hours, we who would become known as the Transfiguration 4 bid our adieus to Miami, to America, to banality, to our mundane lives, and said hello to our dreams, to adventure, to Europe. Our trip had begun.
